-About 90 minutes until first pitch for a game that should be a good one. One match up to watch is Travelers left-hander Trevor Reckling against RockHounds first baseman Chris Carter as both players have been selected to play in the Futures Game next week in St. Louis.

-Well, Reckling won the first battle, getting Carter to line out, but Carter earned a four-pitch walk his second time up against the southpaw. As for the game itself, the Travelers lead 5-1 after three innings. Mike Madsen lasted only 1 2/3 innings for the RockHounds, allowing four runs on six hits before leaving because he was nearing his pitch limit. Mark Trumbo knocked a two-run home run off Madsen in the first inning and came up with two outs and the bases loaded in the second. Trumbo sent a line drive toward center field that looked like extra bases, but Archie Gilbert made a diving catch towards the wall to end the inning.

-Carter just singled off Reckling in what will likely be the final meeting between the two tonight. However, things have gone further downhill for the 'Hounds, who now trail 8-2 in the bottom of the fifth.

-Just an observation, but there seems to be a correlation between the amount of alcohol consumed on Thirsty Thursdays and the fans' collective displeasure with the home plate umpire when the RockHounds are losing. As consumption increases, so does the fans' veracity in criticizing the umpire.

-Travelers win 9-2. More to come in tomorrow's MRT. Keep the booing to a minimum.
