I ask this question, not sure of the answer. Some might say he's put a large number of Midlanders on state boards and commissions. That might be true, although a friend pointed out Tom Craddick's influence had a lot to do with that.

So if I ask how has Rick Perry been good for Midland?

I think Rick Perry has been neutral for Midland. As a Republican Stronghold, and money center for the Party, any Republican Governor would have appointed a decent amount of Midlanders to boards and commissions, Perry as a very long standing Governor, has just had more time and opportunity than most.

I think any "special" treatment that has come down toward Midland in the last decade, as your friend points out, has a whole lot more to do with Craddick. When he was speaker, he held the key to Perry's agenda, and now as a ranking member of the House, he holds the $$$ and fund raising know how in large parts of the State.
