Can someone please explain WHY I can’t seem to get up anymore at 5am? I mean, we go ALL SUMMER getting up at 5am and now that school has started, I can’t seem to get up! For a couple of days I told myself that Kiki and I could work out in the evenings, but that hasn’t happened! I should have known! My evenings are extremely busy and THAT WAS

Thinking back to those days when the wind would fill our sails and we flew off with abandon to the promising and optimistic destinations of our dreams. Back to the moments when we were younger, more daring, more ambitious, more curious and for some of us…. more hair.
We were quick to leave the comforts of our childhood homes seeking adventure, excitement and challenges that laid over the next horizon. Most of us just couldn’t wait to escape those perceptions of parental control and restrictions…

In the ongoing debate that comes all the time as to how better to use the Scharbauer Sports Complex, the question that always comes up is why isn't there more football games
at Grande Communications Stadium?
That's not a question I ask much because how many games are played at Grande are dependent on the schedules for Lee and Midland High, and whether it's a good neutral
site for playoff games. There are factors involved in this t

As I organized my area in the press box at SAC Stadium in El Paso before Lee’s game with El Paso Montwood, I asked someone next to me (everyone called him “Coach” but he didn’t appear to be affiliated with any school in particular) what teams were supposed to compete in District 1-5A.
He pointed to Montwood as the Rams warmed up and added El Paso Coronado, which Lee plays this upcoming week. In the back of my mind, I thought, “Uh oh, Lee could start the season 0-2.” Well, 42 unanswered point…

My first game under the Friday night lights of Grande Communications was an enjoyable experience, but I don’t think I got nearly as much pleasure from it than the Midland High faithful did.
There had to be some tense bodies in the stands at halftime, though. The Bulldogs offense looked completely discombobulated with an excess of penalties, fumbles and negative plays, killing drive after drive.
Those issues left the Bulldogs without any points

Even though Hunter Redman wanted all the
record-breaking talk to die down and was relieved when it was all over, it still
amounted to a special Friday night at Seminole’s Wigwam Stadium.
Usually
there’s very little drama in the season-opening game of a football season. Most
of the time as a sports writer you’re there to see what teams actually have to
work with for the upcoming season. Scrimmages can only tell you so much as
coaches run their vanilla plays…

It’s always hard to tell how good or how bad a team
is going to be from the first game of the season.
There are too many jitters, sometimes too many adjustments, and in the case of Greenwood and Coahoma

College students have enough to juggle when it comes to school, work and their social life and fighting fraud often doesn’t make the list of priorities. Because college students are so susceptible to identity theft, BBB recommends that they take seven simple steps to protect themselves on campus.
According to the 2010 Identity Fraud Survey Report released by Javelin Strategy and Research, more than 11 million people became victims of identity theft in 2009. Young adults aged 18-24 to…

As I picked up Kitty on the last day of volleyball tryouts yesterday, she was very quiet. I asked her how she did and all she did was shake her head. “HOW DID YOU DO?” She began to tell me that she didn’t feel her tryouts were that good and because they were scoring everyone on a points system this year, she “just wasn’t sure”.
So, in my newfound “positive” thinking I told her to imagine all of her volleyball games from last year and how she served 10 points in a row to win a game in o…

Ever have that kind of day where you just wanted to be somewhere else?
Where school, money & work weren’t inconvenient issues at all?
The kind of day where your WHOLE heart and mental vision is somewhere else and all you want to do is follow them?
I.AM.THERE.
From the deepest recessed corners of my being, I know my life is changing because my thoughts are changing…

You will have to bear with me over the next few days while we discover how school sports will affect our workouts in the mornings. Right now Kitty has Athletics 1st period and Tennis 3rd period with Science, Spanish 2 and Social Studies in the afternoon and Volleyball tryouts 2 hours after school. I don’t want her falling asleep in the afternoon classes – just yet…:)
No workout this morning, but I think Kiki and I will hit the park or school this afternoon while Kitty is at tryouts. Ev…

BACK TO SCHOOL!
This weekend was about getting ready for “back to school” and spending time with the family that didn’t involve CHORES.
It involved shooting in the dark under the lights, watching movies in the truck under the stars, shopping for backpacks, eating with friends and family and watching a movie at the theater.
Life is good!
This morning we didn’t go workout in anticipation for the first day of “getting ready” for school.
There are LOTS of…

Look in the mirror. You have created your face through your many thoughts that have accumulated through this lifetime. Ask yourself, "Am I happy, or am I looking for others to make me happy?" Allow yourself to be kind; allow yourself to express the qualities, the beautiful qualities, of your soul. You

Ads on TV may promise to modify car loans and stave off a visit from the repo man, but some companies fail to carry through on their promises. BBB recommends that cash-strapped consumers save their money by trying to work out a deal with the lender directly before paying out hundreds in upfront fees to a loan modification company.
High unemployment in the country means that many families are struggling to make ends meet and the number of repossessed cars continues to rise. More than 1…

This morning I was lying in bed debating on whether or not to get up and workout. I kept trying to come up with different excuses of why I couldn’t workout this morning and I actually started typing a text message that would have read “I was not going to make it” to everyone. But then I realized that it wouldn’t have been fair to the girls and the more I kept thinking, the more I became “awake”. I discarded my text, got up and woke up the girls.
Since we were running about 10 minutes l…
