I was a little surprised the commercial showed Tebow violently tackling his mother. Of course, no one in there right mind would accuse FoF of promoting violence against women, but there are those alarmists who would accuse them of it.

I heard that some of the femi-nazis, who are known for having absolutely no sense of humor, thought the commercial promoted violence toward women. Give me a break!!

Though it is hard to believe I am not an aginner when it comes to Downtown, but in my mind, it is the results that speak louder than the words. I'm for Downtown, but I'm growing tired of the taxpayer funded schemes and multiple committees pushing th…

In my opinion let free enterprise determine if downtown Midland is worth "revitalizing." I'm tired of all the pushing by city government including some elected officials who have something to gain from such a venture.

I can honestly say I have never met a Midlander against downtown revitalization. Maybe someone once wondered what the fuss is about, but really I can't remember people marching down Wall Street calling for the end of downtown revitalization. Still…

I'm not saying the region shouldn't be actively involved in alternative and innovative energy, on the contrary, I am seeing evidence that they are already here, without the benefit of the MDC. As for the CEED, if you poke around their website you w…

You know what would have completed the sports complex? A track

When the sports complex project, whose cost including additions is probably now closer to $50 million than $45 million, was being constructed many Midlanders always wondered why didn't they put a track there? A good question. I always thought if you were going to be building out there why not put in a track/soccer facility like you see at Midland Memorial right now. Could the cost have been that much more? Could we have scaled back another facility to make the numbers work?

Was that the infamous Tim Tebow commercial?

What was all the fuss about? Usually it is the game which doesn't live up to the hype. This year a commercial didn't live up to the hype.

Focus on the Family released an ad "Celebrate Family, Celebrate Life." It stars the college football star Tim Tebow and his mother. It was sweat, heart warming, a nice watch, even though I had to go back and watch a couple times to see if I missed something controversial. The controversy, as it turned ou

Is there really anyone against downtown revitalization? There is?

I can honestly say I have never met a Midlander against downtown revitalization. Maybe someone once wondered what the fuss is about, but really I can't remember people marching down Wall Street calling for the end of downtown revitalization.

Still I have long supported any idea that would create a more vibrant downtown and will continue to back those primarily private sector initiatives.

With downtown on the brain, we provide kudos to the Vision 2020 report which

MDC's missed opportunity?

We read about the Midland Development Corp. wanting to get involved in the financing or "at least the coordination of a Center for Energy Innovation & Commercialization on the north side of town."
And well, we have mixed reviews for what we have seen so far.
Getting involved in energy innovation and research opportunities? We believe is the right path for the MDC and our economic development dollars. Anything to expand our community's expertise in energy. As an editorial in Wednesday's editi… Continue

Waiting for my invite

The Midland Independent School District, according to education reporter Ruth Campbell, is putting together focus groups to discuss the characteristics they would like to see in the next school chief.
According to the school district's Woodrow Bailey, it will be a couple days before the list of Midland citizens asked to participate will be finalized.
According to an earlier story, this group would be a cross-section of opinion-makers, teachers, administrators, parents, people who don't have kids… Continue
