Midland police arrested three family members Wednesday afternoon in connection with the murder of a 28-year-old Midland man found shot last week.
Weldon Maurice Cooks was found in front of his parent's home in the 3600 block of Thomason Drive around 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 9, with a gunshot wound to the chest.
Police charged his father George Mitchell, Jr., 50; brother Jarvis Mitchell, 23; and mother Birdie Cooks Mitchell, 48, each with a first-degree felo

Two lawsuits associated with Midland oilman Clayton Williams' Pecos County water pipeline project have been dropped.
Williams in December and January had filed state and federal suits against Fort Stockton Mayor Ruben Falcon and the Middle Pecos Groundwater
Conservation District, alleging Falcon had impugned his reputation for
honesty and the water district improperly refused to process his
application.

A 46-year-old Midland woman was arrested early Wednesday morning for allegedly calling 9-1-1 and falsely reporting an imminent attack on
Midland International Airport by a group of terrorists.
Adrianne Denise Creekmore has been charged with false-alarm report of an
emergency, a state-jail felony.
