Tommy, You were very close on your location of the crash. You probably remembered the name of Ulmer Park because it was the park over near Bankhead Hiway that had the big city owned swimming pool. T…

Yeah, the SpudNut story is awful scary. It's amazing what you can find out with the technology we have these days. Just chatting with someone about things that happened 50 years ago,
My mom shopped at M-Systems during the time that you worked there. My dad busted the rear axle of our '57 ford driving thru that parking lot. I went to Crestview Baptist Church which was probably right across the street from your church.
We were probably at the Cabell's at the same time at some point during that time. and your brother probably sold us SpudNuts. WOW!!!!!!
We moved to a house on Avondale in the summer of '60. I believe it was at 3702, The second house in from the intersection with Raymond Dr. I went to Jane Long for a year and a half then we moved to a new house on Stanolind just off of Midland Dr, not too far from the drive-in. When we were in junior high, we would sneek up to the back fence of the Chief Drive-in and watch the movie.
Those were definitely good times growing up in Midland. Much simpler times.

I've defnitely enjoyed rehashing the good old days. I'm sure you'll be hearing more from me, good to talk to you.

Oh by the way, I Iinvited you as a friend, hope you don't mind..

Hey Jerry

This is gonna blow your mind. I just looked at a map to see where you lived. I went to Lamar in the 1st grade(59-60). I will bet my last dollar that I walked right by your house going to and from school everyday. How interesting, I bet that there are a lot more commonalities that we'll find.
For instance, do you remember SpudNuts, there was a guy that used to come around door to door selling them. Those were mighty tasty,
Did hang out at the corner Cabell's store? 10 cent cokes and nickel Milky Ways.

You'lll probably wish you hadn't responded to the discussion, because I'll probably come up with some more stuff to talk about

Thought I would get our discussion off of the forum.
We lived in the trailer park right on Midkiff. We lived there from probably 58 to early 60. My brother went to Alamo in the 8th and 9th grade and maybe the 7th, not sure. He played basketall also, all 3 years at Lee. His name is Terry Grace. We would go over to Garrett park to play baseball and I'm sure some basketball was played too. I graduated from Lee in 71 and he graduated in 64. I thought I was pretty cool hanging out with the junior high guys.
Did you live there when the warehouse exploded, not far from Midkiff and Hwy 80? I was outside playing when that thing blew and it scared the holy heck out of me.
I'm gonna rattle off some names I remember and see if you knew any of them:
Dwayne and Tommy Casbeer, Dick Odle, Ray Pauling, Billy Record and I'm sure there are others I can't think of right now. I'll have to ask my brother about anyone else that I can't remember.
I left Midland right after graduation, so it's kind of cool to be able to talk to someone from the old stompin' grounds especially that lived probably a couple of blocks from us.

Look forward to hearing some stories from the good old days..
