Amanda,
The guy that does the majority of the curbs in town usually paints his phone number on each design. He does great work, but he is very booked up. I asked him about doing my curb and he told me that it would be about 3-4 months before he could get to it. He's pretty good and it might be worth the wait. Wreck 'em Tech!

Thank you, I will try to find one that has the number on it.

How long ago was it when you asked him to do your curb? My husband and I met with him, designed the curb we wanted, and paid him almost one year ago, but he has never come to do the work. His cell number is no longer a working number and when you call 520-curb, it just rings and rings. I know he had a heart attack a few years back, is it possible he has died or has been in the hospital or disabled? We really wanted the curb design and are just curious what happened to him?

I just had my the type of work you are requesting done to my house. I had the Texas Longhorns and Dallas Cowboys done on my driveway curb. However, I am not sure if I retained this persons business card. I will ask my husband.

Amanda,
The BEST curb painter here is a longtime Midlander - John Murphy. He is known as 'The Curb Guy', and usually drives his truck with that description on it. I believe his phone number is in the book, and I'm pretty sure he is the one that stays booked up- for good reason!
Not only is he an old friend, in 30 years he has only done my curb twice. And the 2nd time was to touch up his first design. His work lasts forever, and he has designs in his portfolios that cover everything!
Good Luck!

You said John Murphy, "Curb Guy" is a friend of yours, has he died or been very sick lately? We paid him almost a year ago to do our curb and he has never come, his cell number is no longer a working number, and I've called 520-curb multiple times, day, evening, weekdays and weekends and it just rings and rings, no answering machine or anything.

My son & his 2 roommates moved into a rental home in Lubbock and the painted TTU on the curb sure could use another paint job. Did anyone ever get the phone number to the 'Curb Guy'? Any reply appreciated.

John Murphy is listed as 520-CURB.
That is 520-2872.

DEAR ABBY: Loved one's final wishes honor unique individuals

DEAR ABBY: I’m writing to encourage “Wants to Do Right by Mama” (Jan. 25) to honor her mother’s final wishes regarding her burial attire and the position of her body. Several years ago, I sat down with my parents and we talked about their wishes for when they die. We discussed everything from the distribution of their assets to the type of funerals they want. I learned that my father would like a large tombstone, which is something I never knew, so I asked him to draw up exactly what he had in mind.
