When the sports complex project, whose cost including additions is probably now closer to $50 million than $45 million, was being constructed many Midlanders always wondered why didn't they put a track there? A good question. I always thought if you were going to be building out there why not put in a track/soccer facility like you see at Midland Memorial right now. This is a big week for the Midland College basketball teams as both head to always-tough South Plains College in Levelland on Monday.
Both games will be a test for each respective team to see how good they really are. The Lady Chaparrals haven't won at the Texan Dome since 2005, while the MC men have won only three times there since 2000.
For whatever reason, South Plains always has some sort of mojo (no pun intended) while playing Midland College at its home arena.
